Coaches Comments: The girls won their first tournament in style at Rothwell Park. Starting off the morning with a tough game against Briars, our girls just dropped too much ball in the early morning dew, gifting the opposition a 5 pointer just before the siren. Losing 5-0. The rest of the day, however, was one way traffic to our girls. Beating University of Wollongong 2nds 35 - 0, University of Wollongong 1sts 20 - 10, and Sydney Irish 20 - 0. Sally turned oppositions inside out, opening up gaps and scoring long range tries all day. She ended the day with 6 tries to her name, the most tries scored by a Beaconette in a single day. Other stand out performances included Kat, who scored a hat trick of tries throughout the day. Lucy was inspirational in defence, causing at least 4 or 5 turnovers through solid initial contact, including a try saving tackle on our try line. Sav never missed a tackle all day, despite being the smallest on the field she tackled like she was the biggest, constantly turning away waves of attack. At one point Sav made 6 tackles in the span of 30 seconds without missing one. Jade’s efforts in defence shouldn’t go unnoticed either, at one point leading the chase from kick off, only to put her shoulder through the rips of the opposition, causing a turnover in which we scored off. This was a great warm up to the start of our competition next weekend. The girls should be proud of their attack, scoring 15 tries in a day, but more pleasingly was only having 3 tries scored against us all day.

Players of the tournament: Sally and Sav
