Have Beacon, Will Shine

Macquarie University Rugby Football Club (MURFC) was established in 1967 in the first year the University welcomed students onto campus.

Competing in the Judd Cup in their first year, the Beacons were crowned premiers after winning the Semi Final in extra time, and the Grand Final 3-0.

Decked out in Green, Gold and White, the beacons golden era came in 70’s being promoted to Division Two in 1971, winning the Division Two Club Championship in ‘74 and ‘75, before being promoted to Division One in ‘76.

This success was short-lived with a return to Division Two in ‘79, then to Division Three in ‘80, and returning to Sub-Districts Rugby in 1987 where they now reside.
