Macquarie University Rugby Football Club

Macquarie University Rugby Football Club (MURFC) is the oldest sporting club at Macquarie University. Established in 1967 and currently competing in the NSW Suburban Rugby Competition, MURFC attracts all levels of players from ex-grade players right through to first timers. Due to our association with the university we are a relatively young club that combines a good mix of enthusiasm and experience.

You DO NOT have to be a student to play for Macquarie. Whilst at least 50% of the squad is made up of past and present students there is also a large representation of locally based players within the squad. Based at the university sports fields we are fortunate to have access to some of the best fields and facilities in the Sydney Suburban Rugby competition.

Whilst rugby is the main attraction we also promote a healthy social calendar at the club, with New Boys Night – the most mysterious night of most of our lives – Ladies Day and Old Boys Day – a chance to show off in front of friends and family – and the Poker night – a chance to win some money to go towards registration fees. This and many more functions will be happening this year at MURFC. If you’re keen to play some good footy, meet some new mates and enjoy a few beverages then Macquarie Rugby is the club for you!
